Seeking Part-Time Instructor for the Business and Computer Training Program

Weekly Hours: TBD based on expertise

Pay Rate: $40/hr *Credentialed Rate

Position Duties:

  • Provide direct instruction for MS office programs (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook and Publisher),Business applications(Bookkeeping, Accounting) basic math, filing, typing, etc.
  • Provide student support  with lessons and monitor students as they work independently in the following areas:

           a. MS office programs Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook and Publisher
           b. Business applications math, filing, typing, language arts,

  • Participate in student orientations
  • Facilitate project-based learning group activities
  • Provide workshops on supplemental material as needed (i.e. math, MS elements, etc.)
  • Develop curriculum as needed for program enhancement
  • Assist with decisions about the purchasing of necessary supplies and equipment that will support the
  • program
  • Follow appropriate instructional practices and classroom procedures and work with program team to
  • develop and upgrade these practices
  • Participate in department and school-wide meetings
  • Maintain student records and submit necessary paperwork in a timely fashion
  • Proctor clerical testing, assessment testing, and typing certificate testing

Requirements:

          Verification of five (5) years of full time work experience directly related to accounting and/or  

          bookkeeping or MS Office program.        

  • One year must be within the past three years.
  • Two of the five years of required work experience may be substituted with a college degree (specific to computers/business).

           Valid California teaching credential: K-12, Adult Education, or Vocational Education (to be discussed)

Seeking Part-Time Instructor for Microsoft Excel versions 2013 and 2016

in the Workplace Training Institute

Weekly Hours: TBD based on expertise and number of contracts

Pay Rate:  TBD

Position Duties:

Provide direct instruction in all levels (beginning, intermediate and advanced) for Microsoft office program Excel versions 2013 and 2016 at business and/or organization worksites as needed.

Other duties include but not limited to:

  • Develop curriculum as needed for program enhancement.
  • Follow appropriate instructional practices and classroom procedures and work with program team to develop and upgrade these practices.
  • Participate in department and school-wide meetings.
  • Maintain student records and submit necessary paperwork in a timely fashion.

Requirements:

Verification of five (5) years of full time work experience directly related to teaching or training in Microsoft Excel 2013 and 2016.     

  • One year must be within the past three years.
  • Two of the five years of required work experience may be substituted with a college degree (specific to computers/business).
  • Must be able to teach advanced Excel including Pivot tables and other higher functions of Excel.

Valid California teaching credential: K-12, Adult Education, or Vocational Education (to be discussed).

Seeking Part-Time CNA Instructor (RN or LVN)

Weekly Hours: TBD based on expertise

Pay Rate: $58 per hour + curriculum development time

Definition:

Under the direction of the Career and Technical Education Supervisor, the instructor will provide classroom instruction and oversee clinical practice for the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) class.

Position Duties:

  • Assist with scheduling of classes and orientations
  • Teach classes on an on-going basis
  • Assist with decisions about the purchasing of necessary supplies and equipment that will support the program
  • Assist with updating, developing and implementing new curriculum (as needed) 
  • Provide immediate and direct instruction to students during clinical
  • Deliver the course content according to the approved training plan
  • Record  and report  daily attendance for theory/clinical
  • Maintain accurate documentation of student progress
  • Document and verify all learning modules
  • Oversee  daily theory and clinical sign in sheets
  • Provide orientation to new students
  • Complete student records for theory (Nursing Assistant Training Program (NATP) individual student record) after modules are completed and clinical (NATP skills checklist) when skills are demonstrated
  • Submit skills checklist to school storage on a daily basis
  • Use checklists  throughout the training to ensure that procedures  and program requirements are followed
  • Submit student records to the Program Director and  CTE Instructional Supervisor for review upon completion of class
  • Maintain grades (pass/fail) and initial and date clinical skill
  • Interface with management and staff at the nursing facility

Requirements:

  • Valid nursing license (RN or LVN) 
  • 2 years as licensed nurse.
  • 1 year verifiable experience as a licensed nurse in the provision of direct patient care in a long term care facility.  (DON, DSD, MDS coordinator job titles are not direct patient care job positions and do not count towards this experience)
  • Long term care facility is defined in Title 22, section 71821

PLUS

  • 1 year of verifiable experience planning implementing and evaluating educational programs in nursing.  (Includes, but not limited to, experience teaching RN or LVN)

OR

  • A minimum of 24 hours of continuing education in Planning, Implementing and Evaluating Educational Programs in Nursing.
  • This continuing education must be approved by the Board of Registered Nursing or administered by an accredited educational institution. (See title 22, Section 21829(d)(2) and CCR, Title 16, Division 14, Article 5-Continuing ED for remaining details)
  • Must currently have or be in the process of obtaining a California CTE/Vocational Teaching Credential  (NVUSD requirement)

 

Additional Information:

  • Teaching schedule- Tuesday-Friday 8am-3pm
  • Total hours for class- 180 hours including classroom theory and clinical
  • Curriculum provided by Napa Valley Adult Education

Part-time Instructor for Career Workshops (Workforce Preparation)

Area: Career and Technical Education (CTE)                                  

Definition:

Under the direction of the Career and Technical Education Supervisor, the instructor will provide workshops to individuals who are seeking to: explore careers, improve their workplace skills, prepare for  job interview skills, develop a resume,  and improve their general workplace skills. 

Instructional duties may include:

  • Provide workshops on: job exploration, resume writing, interview skills, networking, interpersonal skills and communication, among other topics.
  • Develop curriculum as needed for program enhancement
  • Develop and follow appropriate instructional practices and classroom procedures
  • Participate in department meetings
  • Maintain student records and submit necessary paperwork in a timely fashion

Education and Experience:

Verification of three (3) years of work experience related to human resources, hiring, career     

 exploration, or counseling.

Valid California teaching credential: K-12, Adult Education, or Vocational Education (to be

 discussed)

Hours:

Workshops are held Mon-Thurs 8:30 am to 12:30pm.  

Salary Range:

$40 per hour (credentialed), $29.98 per hour (non-credentialed) or your current rate of pay (NVAE teachers)

Position Description for the following:

Definition:

Under the direction of the Program Supervisor, the Lead Teacher will provide program support to  instructors.

Lead Duties:

 Serves as instructional lead/mentor and liaison between teachers and the Program Supervisor  and  NVAE Administration

Schedules classes, teachers, rooms, substitute teachers

Attends seminars, workshops and other meetings that pertain to keeping the program up-to-date, relevant and meeting community needs 

Assists with inventory of instructional materials and orders supplies

Assists with paperwork related to hiring, timesheets, invoices, web attendance, etc.

Assists in the planning and implementation of professional development for staff

Assists with correct and timely completion of timesheets, attendance and other required paperwork and procedures

Develops/updates program curricula

Assists with aligning classes to state standards and federal grants and requirements

Participates actively in outreach to collaborate with the community and market programs

Performs all duties in an accurate and timely manner

Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience:

Valid California Teaching Credential

2 years of teaching or training experience

A proficient level of experience using technology

 Bilingual College and Career Adviser

Weekly Hours:

Definition:

Under the direction of the Principal or Assistant Principal, the College and Career Advisor performs a variety of organizational and guidance functions to support students in academic transitions and career and college planning.

Responsible To:

Napa Valley Adult Education Principal

Supervisory Duties May Include:

  • Coordinates and facilitates programs for career planning and post-secondary education and training.
  • Organizes and maintains a career planning and college information center that provides information and resources to staff and students.
  • Maintains and continually updates an information center library with resources including information on colleges, career clusters, employment trends, college bulletins and catalogs, and newsletters of interest.
  • Assists with new student orientations in order to share information about trainings, programs and resources and provides 1-on-1 advising as needed.
  • Facilitates individual and small group meetings with students about post-secondary options for careers, training, and higher education.
  • Initiates relationships between students and community partners.
  • Provides information about financial assistance and assists students in completing applications forms.
  • Administers computer-aided career and interest inventories and sets up online profiles for students using computer lab resources.
  • Prepares and delivers information presentations to classrooms and student groups.
  • Schedules speakers, college representatives, and recruiters. Maintains a calendar of scheduled events, speakers and career fairs.
  • Participates in career and education fairs within the community.

Qualifications:

  • The position requires working knowledge of occupational resources, trends, and opportunities, college programs, entrance requirements, and application procedures.
  • Requires knowledge of, skill, and using computer-aided applications for office productivity, research, and preparation of communications materials.
  • Communicates positively, accurately, and effectively both orally and in writing in both English and Spanish.
  • Requires the ability to respond to a diverse set of cultures, ethnic and socio-economic groups.
  • Provides positive representation and promote programs of responsibility and the adult school as a whole to state and community groups
  • Demonstrates excellent organizational skills and time-management skills

Education and Experience:

  • Associates Degree or equivalent, supplemented by training in guidance or counseling, and research, plus 4 years of experience working with college and community-based occupation resources.
  • A career development certificate from an accredited post-secondary institution may substitute for one year of experience.
  • A Bachelor’s degree is preferred and may substitute for some experience.

Position Description

Part-time Keyboarding Teacher

Area: Career and Technical Education (CTE)

POSITION: Teach Keyboarding class three (3) hours/evenings a week

DEFINITION:

Under the direction and supervision of the CTE Supervisor, the teacher will oversee the Keyboarding class by helping students log on, answer questions and provide technical support

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

  • Monitor students as they work and provide assistance
  • Troubleshoot technical problems as needed
  • Print test results during testing
  • Record daily attendance
  • Perform related duties as assigned

Education and Experience

  • Valid California Teaching Credential
  • 2 years of teaching or training experience
  • A proficient level of experience in using technology

Ability to:

  • Give clear directions;
  • Work independently and make minor decisions within the framework of established guidelines.

Starting   9/11/18 - 12/13/18  

Class is Tuesday,  Wednesday,  Thursday   05:00 PM - 06:00 PM
