Become a Notary Public!

A Notary Public must:

  • Be 18 years old
  • Be a California resident
  • Read, write and understand English
  • Successfully complete this course
  • Pass a state exam (30 multiple questions)
  • Pass a background check

Start your own business.  Work full time or part time as a Notary Public.  As a public servant commissioned by the Secretary of State, the Notary Public protects the integrity of legal and personal documents.  Instructor is an official Notary Public education provider for the State of California, meeting the stringent course requirements required by California law.  This one-day course will teach you everything  you need to know to be a successful Notary Public.  Applicants may take the notary exam immediately following the course. 

Bring a form of current identification:  current driver's license, state ID card or passport;  $40 check or money order payable to "Secretary of State"; 2"X2" passport photograph;  two - #2 pencils.

The class will also include an explanation of the steps to become a notary public and the associated costs including insurance, supplies, and background check.  

Per State law, late arrivals will not be admitted

Notary Public Renewal Course

The 3-hour renewal course is required for existing Notaries Public who are renewing their commission. The renewal course must be taken prior to the expiration date of your existing commission. If your existing commission expires prior to taking the course, then the full “Become a Notary Public” course is required. This half-day course will teach you everything you need to know to successfully renew your Notary Public commission. Bring a current driver’s license, state ID card or passport. Notaries Public must be at least 18 years old; be a California Resident; read, write, and understand English; successfully complete this course, pass a state exam (30 multiple choice questions) and pass a background check. Applicants may take the State notary exam immediately following the course.
