Become a Notary Public!

A Notary Public must:

  • Be 18 years old
  • Be a California resident
  • Read, write and understand English
  • Successfully complete this course
  • Pass a state exam (30 multiple questions)
  • Pass a background check

Start your own business.  Work full time or part time as a Notary Public.  As a public servant commissioned by the Secretary of State, the Notary Public protects the integrity of legal and personal documents.  Instructor is an official Notary Public education provider for the State of California, meeting the stringent course requirements required by California law.  This one-day course will teach you everything  you need to know to be a successful Notary Public.  Applicants may take the notary exam immediately following the course. 

Bring a form of current identification:  current driver's license, state ID card or passport;  $40 check or money order payable to "Secretary of State"; 2"X 2" passport photograph;  two - #2 pencils.

The class will also include an explanation of the steps to become a notary public and the associated costs including insurance, supplies, and background check.  

Per State law, late arrivals will not be admitted

Notary Public Renewal Course

This course provides the required training for a Notary Public to renew their commission. To qualify for the half-day renewal class, the course and exam must be taken prior to the expiration date of your existing commission. The State Notary Exam will be offered after the course from 4:30-5:30 pm. For the exam, bring a $40 cashier’s check or money order payable to “Secretary of State”, a valid ID, a 2x2 color passport photo, and two sharpened #2 pencils. $35 book/materials fee to be paid in class by cash, company/cashier’s check, or money order payable to “CNTC”. NO personal checks please. Credit/debit cards incur a 5% merchant fee.
